a question about RAID 0

currently running RAID 0, if i upgrade my motherboard will i simply be able to plug and play? or should i back them up and start from scratch?

Back them up. You will have to recreate the array on the new MB which will erase both drives.

RAID stripes have a bad tendancy to be specific to the controller, I've even had problems when going from the same model motherboard to another of the same model after an RMA due to a slight revision to the RAID controller.

So in short backup any critical data as chances are the new motherboard won't be able to read the array.
