All over the world...
Right me and a mate of mine were discussing Arsenal and who they would appoint as the next manager if say, for instance Wenger decided to leave or Arsenal got rid of him.

Now hes saying the Arsenal old boy David O'Leary whos at Aston Villa would be a prime candidate. Personally i dont know myself, hes done ok at Villa i think...he also did a sterling job at Leeds...but could he do the business with Arsenal if he ever took over at the helm??. My mate reckons that once Wenger leaves, if he ever does then Arsenal will get O'Leary to take over.

Whats your guys opinions??, is O'Leary good enough and does he have the necessary experience to do something at Arsenal.

My honest opinion is that i dont know who i would want to take over, perhaps George Graham??:p

I've got a pretty good feeling David O'Leary won't take over, why would Arsenal take a huge step backwards by appointing a far inferior manager? I also think Wenger will be at Arsenal a while longer as he is just seeing his new crop of youngsters coming through.

Yes but what im saying is that if Wenger left of his own accord or was booted out because of some dodgy going ons etc. Who would you like to see as the next Arsenal manager.

O'Leary does have Arsenal running through his blood though, so i could see a few people wanting to have an Arsenal old boy in charge but would it hinder or make us better??

No idea. Ex player wise I would go with Keown or Bould (both at the club), Adams is in there with a shout but he didn't do to well at Wycombe.

We have at least until 2008 so theres no need to worry about it now.

O'Leary is a bog standard manager, nothing special and wouldn't be able to take the Arsenal team to new places.

Look at Villa this season, only just above the relegation zone despite having a pretty talented team.

By that time thought Adams could have more experience, it was a hard tast a wycombe. What about Mr Bergkamp, he could be an excellent manager with his experience and knowledge of the game plus he speaks a few languages too.

+44

I reckon Wenger will be at Arsenal for the next 5-7 years. He has great vision for the team and a fantastic eye for spotting young talent from Europe (France ;)). I'd expect a similar manager to replace him, someone from mainland Europe with a load of experience from the CL. Anyone less would be a step backwards.

edit (Sorry I realised this was for Arsenal fans)

O'leary is a dreadfull manager.

He doesnt do anything, he basically took a bunch of very expensive, very talented players at leeds and failed to win anything with them.
He literally threw then toghether and left them to it, then when results started to go wrong, he never got close to turning them round, no where near.

At Villa, he has spent more money than Wigan and Bolton and West Ham, and is doing worse.

Go David!

He won't fly which would cause problems in Europe ;)

Have you never seen the A-Team? Nor did B.A ;)

I'm not an Arsenal fan but O'Leary would be a pretty shocking appointment I reckon as he doesn't seem to achieve as much in the way of results as he should given the quality he has had available to him. I'd also hate to hear him again going on about how he has a young and inexperienced team in Arsenal.

Right fellas thanks for the views, seems like O'Leary isnt highly rated as a manager seeing as what a few of you have said about him is quite true.

I know that Wenger isnt leaving Arsenal for a while yet, theres more chance of Henry leaving than him:p.

Cheers anyways, if anyone else has any views then please post...doenst matter if your an Arsenal fan or not:p:D

I think Wenger has gone as far as he can with Arsenal and needs a fresh challenge.
Both he and his team are stagnating now and he needs to move on to better himself.
Where he is now the beer is too flat and warm and the people cant pronounce words properly.
I know just the position for him to enhance his career and he can bring that clio driving frenchman with him...

Joking aside I think hes the best manager in the league , the way he plucks young players from seemingly nowhere and bloods them into his first team is astounding.
He must have a huge network of european connections.
I have nothing but admiration for him.

I still think he looks like a middle aged lesbian , mind. :p

Hmmm, Kev mentions grooming, Rotty deletes his own comment just seconds later. I wonder... ;)

Personally, I'll feel sorry for whoever comes in after Wenger. They're simply never going to be as good as him, and they'll have a hell of a task living up to his legacy. It's not that Arsene is perfect, but to have put so much in to the club, to really care about it, and to have given us fans so much in return is more than anyone could ask for really. Legend, and I'll personally handcuff him to the dressing room in Ashburton Grove if he ever actually decides he wants to leave.
