...How often do you need to change the dustbag?

We bought a Henry about three months ago to replace a crumby Samsung upright and so far we are still on the original fitted paper bag. The vacuum is still picking up okay but the capacity seems endless. That's based on vacuuming an average three bedroom house (including upholstery) once a week. I even bought a re-usable cloth bag thinking the paper bags would only do three or four weeks but so far lying unused!

I changed the bag in my Henry for the first time in at least 5 years or so. :o

And even the 5 years is just a guess as no-one in my shared house remembers it ever being done. :p

Surely it depends on your house? We've got a big black lab that sheds hair like it's going out of fashion so our hoover needs emptying after every use.

I changed it after 6 months because, although it was only part filled, I figured I should have changed it by now etc.... Seems I was a bit premature.

Deffo a great vacuum... pretty much most professional cleaners seem to use them.

I had a Henry for over ten years as a site hoover (well, 3 with bruv & the other 7 with me), and never used a bag in him once (just the main dust filter). Sucked up all kinds of horrible stuff during his life that would probably never come into contact with a Henry used purely in a domestic situation! :D

Average vacuum, always was.
If a cleaner is using one it is because that was what they were supplied with as part of the contract, not because it is inherently awesome, it's silly to link usage with ability particularly when the criteria are different. We keep on having this conversation it seems.

For what it's worth, Which recently voted Miele as best cleaner (if you happen to rate their view of things)

I also used one for ages with no dust bag...

Thanks for the info, guys. I'll heed the advice about checking the hose inlet isn't blocked as the bag gets fuller. I reckon it could be four or five months to actually fill it to the point where it needs changing. A superb vacuum, not too noisy either - unlike its immediate predecessor, an upright bagless Samsung which screamed like a banshee and leaked dust every where. Retired to the tip at six months old!
