Is it bad to run a PC 12 hours a Day all year long with no thermal paste. if so what could happen to my CPU

Hi dvdbunny?

Let me ask you a similar question: Is it bad to shoot yourself in the heart 12 times a day all year long with no ..... errr.....

If this was a serious thread, which is isn't, I would reply appropriately :) (Unless you have a huge heatsink and a low power CPU then the answer is no btw)

Higher temperatures extremely likely.

Overheating and causing your computer to shut down possible.

Paste bridges the tiny (or not so tiny as it may be) gaps between heat spreader on the chip and heatsink which are otherwise filled with air which is a useless conductor of heat.

Not worthwhile to ignore the thermal paste, the surfaces of heat spreaders and heatsinks are never perfectly flat and are often designed to expect thermal paste to be present.

lol!!! im srs, i dont have any paste. Its a E2200, and Sythe ninja. as of tomorrow. but ive ordered some paste. I was a noob when i put the PC together, and didnt know you needed it :O and the temps have been fine on the stock cooler so i left it.

your lucky it still works. apply the paste and check temps are ok then you can leave it on 24/7 if you wish.
