A Question Regarding Processor Affinity

Hi there

Appologies if I have posted this to the incorrect forum.

Just installed my AMD FX-60 and have checked via Device Manager that the installation has been a success.
Under Device Manager, when I expand the entry for "Computer" it is displaying "ACPI MultiProcessor PC" and under "Processors" it displays "AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 Dual Core Processor".
In Task Manager - Performance tab there are 2 graphs showing under CPU Usage History.
So it appears that the CPU has been installed correctly.

However when I run CPUZ the Processor Selection tab is greyed out.
In addition when I right-click on the application in Task Manager - Processes the "Select Affinity" has only a tick in CPU 1 whilst CPU 0 is unticked.
A tick in the CPU 0 box will not stick.
Same story with FRAPS, yet RegCleaner has both boxes ticked.
I recall reading somewhere that RegCleaner does not launch correctly with Dual Core CPU's.

After that rather lengthy post I'm wondering if there are any suggestions in getting both FRAPS and CPUZ to recognise the FX-60 and any ideas why it is working with RegCleaner and most other applications.

cheers

I just noticed in Device Manager ( after enabling Show Hidden Devices ) that there is a greyed out entry for my previous CPU
Do yu reckon it's safe to uninstall this ??

cheers

In device manager, expand the computer tab and tell me what it says. It should say "ACPI multiprocessor PC" if not right click on it and click upgrade.
If you are having problems this should resolve them. After this, dual core optimiser didn't make any difference to me.

Yes "ACPI multiprocessor PC" is showing in Computer

Thks again guys for replying
