A question to all you Whiskey drinkers

If you haven't already, you can try some of the more specialist Glenmorangie range, i always found them very easy drinking. My preference if you are drinking 'specialist' type whiskys (i.e. not cooking whisky like Bells) is for some room temp water if you need to mix, or else add ice to any whisky/whiskey on a night out, just to make it last longer!

I would recommend the Glenmorangie Artisan if you can get hold of it as a very nice drink, but if you ever find anyone with a Glenmorangie 30yr Malaga, bite their hand off for a glass, it will spoil you forever, but it's worth it for those heavenly few minutes of drinking!

:D

40yr old thamdu is also a very good choice to kill your friends over.

Just an update- just been to the pub and tried the bushmills- bit flowery for my tastes but smooth and tasty none the less.- dont think i'll be buying that one.

with respect to how to take your whisky- with bourbons i like either a splash of water or coke and ice.

with single malts i normally drink at room temp- no ice and a little more water- up to equal measure. but as has been said its up to personal taste.

Oooh, i'll have to recommend that to my mum's next door neighbour, he's my usual route into nice, old, expensive whiskys (and wines/brandies!)

Haha, that shouldn't matter, i've spent a few evenings sitting there drinking brandy at a few hundred pound a shot, or 3-400 bottles of red wine, he's loaded and his son ain't a drinker, so enjoys it when i go round to get wasted!

I second Macallan's. It's relatively mild. Well, milder than the Islays I normally prefer (Lagavulin's one of my faves).

As to the ice/no ice debate, I find the best compromise is to drink the scotch straight but with an icy glass of water on the side to take a mouthful from between sips of whiskey.
