A quick favour...

The domain is in 'clientHold' status - http://whois.domaintools.com/shakespearescelebrations.com

Oddly the domain expiration isn't until 2018 but the WHOIS shows:
Registrar Registration Expiration Date: 2017-02-26T11:32:36Z

So I guess your registrar has messed something up.

clientHold - This status code tells your domain's registry to not activate your domain in the DNS and as a consequence, it will not resolve. It is an uncommon status that is usually enacted during legal disputes, non-payment, or when your domain is subject to deletion.

That's what I am getting too, but the people who host the server this site sits on said it was working fine.

The people who host the site are not the same people who manage the domain/dns stuff.

Looks like the domain is registered with fasthosts and the hosting is through tagadab?
It's fasthosts you'll need to speak to about this.

Setting the IP address in my hosts file, I get the site to load correctly so the hosting company are correct: the site is up and running.

Thing is if you look at Google cache this site hasn't been updated since 26th February 2016 and it looks like it set up solely for the 400 anniversary celebrations so not sure what use it would have now.
