Which is why i asked you to be clear in your question, which you were not.

This is still common in just about every industry, i work in security i subcontract other firms to cover contracts my company is not staffed for. It saves paying a full time staff and frees up time and funds for other things.

Standard stuff.

@Frosty You think AMD/Nvidia don't exploit cheap labour markets?

Maybe its just me I'm really not sure anymore.

This is not about the cheap labour or that TSMC actually fab the chip, this is about the actual design of them.

Which is why i asked you to be clear in your question, which you were not.

I thought you asked us to give you an answer, not a question!

Then the "I do not care" is a pretty clear answer.

I do not give a thing, if X or Y designed it. Or even if the same person who designed AMD is designing Nvidia at the same time in parallel on his next desk.

I will buy based on what I want to buy. And who makes it is completely irrelevant. Same with CPUs.

it's a common practice to contract outside, especialy when you have a multi billion dollar company, you simply cannot survive, or your if you think that you have the monopole over innovative ideas, you are bound to fail.
xbox gamepad, the new default look of modern gamepad, isn't even from microsoft...

I am not 100% sure on what you mean by "design" the GPU, but as far as I can tell it doesn't affect me or the end product.

And I agree that the question isn't well written. You could be surprised but not disappointed as I am (i think), or simply not care as many don't.

This is not the shape of the thing or how ergonomic a controller is, this is how the GPU, the actual processor is designed.

That isn't one of the options, YES, NO or Already knew, obviously you cared enough to post in this thread, so thank you anyway.

When he said he didn't care meaning he wouldn't be disappointed/surprised. So it is an answer.

Same here, no.

Read the thread again from 1st post to last then let me know what you did wrong....

for all the people who couldn't care less, I understand that, and if you don't want to take part then fine, but wouldn't it just be easier to not post at all.

If you get pestered in the high street to do a survey, do you say ok then and then not bother to answer the questions or do you just say 'sorry not interested' and just move on.

Bottom line is that in the opening post I ask a question, asking for one of 3 answers, I don't care isn't one of the options.

/thread is probably the best thing to do.

It seems as most are not disappointed/surprised so I am in a minority, which of course is fine.

If a mod could close this thread please.

No, end of the day i want a reasonably priced product that does what i want
If its all made in house or not doesnt concern me.
May i ask why it disturbs you ? Really its not affecting your purchase at all where its designed imo

Not really a case of disturbs, just I was a bit disappointed/surprised that these things were not designed in house, I would have thought it was a really closely guarded secret, how many shaders, how many rops, what type of memory bus etc, not that they pass that info off to another company. Months before any silicon is started on.

But they have answered the question...

"I don't care" means exactly the same as "no" in response to your question. They're not saying that they don't care about your question, saying that the don't care IS the answer.

You asked if they're disappointed that the GPU companies contract out the work, people said they don't care if they do, as long as the product is what they want. That means no, they aren't disappointed or surprised, because they don't care.
