A quick question about 6200 and unlocking pipelines

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if :

XFX GeForce 6200 128MB DDR TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (PVT44ARAMG)

or

XFX GeForce 6200 256MB DDR TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (PVT44AWAH6)

are capable of being softmodded to a 6600. I've had a look on the XFX site but the graphics cards product numbers are slightly different. If they aren't, can someone suggest a 6200 model that would be capable of being softmodded?

yeh, it seems only NV43(except the A4 revision) cored 6200's can be softmodded to 6600's

i found this tidbit of info:

if its PCIe and is a "turbo cache" version, it'll be the NV44 core.
if its PCIe and has 128bit mem then it'll most likely be NV43
if its AGP and has 64bit memory or no bridge chip it'll be NV44
if its AGP and has the bridge chip and has 128bit mem it'll be NV43

The only problem is that N43 6200's are RARE and it's a bit of job finding one that has 128-bit mem and a bridge chip. But these cards sell for like £40-50, so if you can find one and unlock/overclock then i think its well worth it. Apparently most of these cards overclock past 6600 speeds.

Edit: Also apparently some 6200's have temp sensors that have been disabled so an extra bonus if your lucky :)

yea the 6200agp is deffo worth its 50 quid if its got the 128bit memory interface since it can be unlocked to 8 pipes and the success rate is a lot higher than the 6800 unlocking rate.

also the 6200 has a working hardware video processor for hd decoding so its a very good deal for media centre pcs etc. and its gaming is not too bad IF its the 128bit memory interface model.

problem is i can't find any seller selling that 128bit cards.
someone send me mail if they find a retailer. email is in trust.

I found a nice MSI one which has 128-bit interface with 300mhz core clock and 550mhz memory. It also had the pci-express - Agp bridge, so it will almost certainly be able to be softmodded to a 6600.
