A quick warranty question..

I've didn't need it when I used their RMA service, didn't need the receipts for Maxtor either when I had to RMA 3 different drives to them...

From what I can remember, they work it out from the serial number on your drive.
 
they can work out when the drive was made from the serial number, so a receipt isn't required most of the time.

However if you've got a drive that was sat in a warehouse for 6-12 months before you got it then the receipt is proof of when you bought it, and can make the difference between getting a drive replaced near the end of the warrantee period or not (the receipt will overide the manufacturers date in such cases).
