A RAID Question

I've just bought two of the ocz ssd disks that ocuk were selling cheaply, one was intended for my girlfriends laptop, the other as a spare or possibly for a server. However, I've been wondering now if I could stick these into raid to make my gaming computer quicker. Its currently running a crucial SSD, and a 500gb sata hdd (which I don't actually use, so that can come out).

This computer doesn't hold any important data whatsoever. I've a separate development machine and a server that holds all my key stuff, so I'm not too bothered about having the raid go down and having to rebuild.

Edit: Forgot to say that this pc is used only for gaming and hd video editing.

However, I've had issues with my motherboard in the past when trying to install AHCI drivers (took me several reboots to get it working), and am wondering if it's worth the hassle in case I have trouble with raid drivers.

I guess my questions are; what raid would be best, would I see any real benefit from using it, and is it worth the effort?

TIA.

Unless you need the capacity of having the two disks in RAID0, it's probably not worth it.

For day to day use the speed improvements are marginal, almost unnoticeable - and only really evident in benchmarks.

Plus in RAID they won't have TRIM enabled which will see the drives slow down over time as they have to clean used blocks before they can be rewritten. Your drives may have Garbage Collection which would still work and remove the need for TRIM, but if they're older drives maybe not.
