"How to build a Nuclear Submarine" on BBC 2 now...

Do you ever think those developing nations around the world might Sky+ this, and actually ever get anything worthwhile from it? Ie. design hints for their own machines, in any way shape or form?

Yeah, I guessed they'd go through it rather extensively - I was just sat here pondering whether they'd missed something, even something very very small. Like the welding methods. Or the way the rubber they use to absorb sonar. Etc..

I'd say most of the info can be found on google anyway.

Aye, there's bits blurred out so far and such though when they show the actual wire frame bits and such of the design it does make me wonder if "something" could be of great use though I don't expect the drug subs to dramaticly change any time soon due to this XD

My house mates' brother works up in Barrow on the nuclear submarine projects. Needless to say he's not allowed to tell us anything :(

It's the reactor compartment that is the most secret, followed by the number of screw blades. It all goes back to other countries being able to determine the boats speed etc.

Most of the reactor trickery goes on at Derby and Dounreay with Rolls Royce.

Yeah I know somebody else who works there but isn't allowed to say anything, infact I'm not even allowed to tell anyone I know somebody who isn't allowed to tell anyone

If memory serves then the reactor is a PW1 which belongs to the States? (the design anyway) and you cannot even walk past the department with a camera switched on
