GordyR, I am currently applying for assistant store managers.store managers with both lidl and aldi.
I have spent the last 6 years in the food industry working my way up through the despatch chain of command, that jumped me too a warehouse supervisor/assistant manager for a furniture manufacturer. I was made redundant 5 weeks ago and I want a change of area regarding my career. Hence these applications.
I am used to long hours and shifts, high pressure jobs with tight deadlines and meeting KPI's etc.
Any advice you can give me regarding cover letters, apps and interviews that will make me stand out slightly? Anything in particular that I can talk about or research?
I only ever had a sales job back when I was 18, I quite enjoyed it. However I am aware that the lack of experience is going against me but feel that my management skills are good enough and that I could do this.
On a side note, I work for myself and my future family. Some of you may know that I am getting married next year and have a mortgage to pay. I need the money to provide for my family, however, at the same time, I realise that there is no point working all the hours under the sun for a family I never see. Family comes first.
