A second runabout for £500?

Am looking for a cheap to run, cheap to insure 2nd car for about £500.

Engine size is not an issue, can be a 1.0litre to be honest as will not be heavily used.

Any recommendations for that price and spec?

If it will not be heavily used buy something with a larger engine - you'll get a far better example at this price becuase most people with £500 want perceived low running costs.

At 5000 miles a year, for example, the difference between a 40mpg little engine and a 25mpg guzzler 482 is £280....

A tidy mk1 mondy could be had easily

mate had one with 150k on the clock - 2.0 16v, £300 with a year's T&T

Full leather (rich, deep leather...not like the crap that passes for 'leather' these days), surprisingly spritely, will go on forever with basic servicing, reasonable to insure....

I did briefly but i didnt like it as much as my estate, so i ran the turbo for a few weeks and got rid of it for the same price as i bought it. I much prefer the estate, and with the estate being non turbo B230E, much less to go wrong
