A self portrait - advice needed

Hi guys!

As a part of my homework, I need to take a portrait of myself.
Can you suggest me what will be the best way to do it? any tips? I've been trying to take a few shots but it didn't go so well

Use the mirror, ensuring that the camera covers your face.

Or set the camera on a timer

No idea about the remote. Cheapo Adidt one works for me.
