Poor effort! This thread comes up every so often with people trying to be clever and divide by 0, but missing the divide out of the original sum then trying to look clever is clearly one of those moments where you need to put the keyboard down and walk away from the internet.

root -8 = root 8 * root -1 = +-2root2 * root -1 =

If brackets aren't written in, I'd never add them, so in my mind, this is 7.
