I'm looking for a simple indoor security camera. Doesn't even need to take video or be linked up to a LAN or anything as such.. Snapshots onto an SD card activated via movement is more than sufficient.

Just so i can leave my garage open and not feel anxious. At least if one of my bikes did ever disappear, then i'd have a photo of the person that took it and a much better chance at retrieving.

I live in a very safe gated community.. But you know, there are always risks. There have been a small couple of incidents in the past. Opportunists. Please don't say, just keep the garage closed. That's not what I'm asking for.
I just am looking for that little extra security and peace of mind.

Can anyone recommend a decent device ?

It could even be an outdoor one, and i have it cover my driveway. The only thing about that is they'll see it, whereas an indoor can easily be concealed in my actual garage.

How ironic would it be if someone stole your security camera because you left your garage door open? Just shut and lock the door...

Cameras aside, why would you want to leave the garage open? I'm really struggling with this.

Cos we're in and out of the garage all the time. It puts mechanical strain on the mechanism to open and close the garage door 20times a day !

Can we get back to recommending a simple camera ?

When I was younger I had a Buzz Lightyear toy that would detect motion when someone entered my bedroom and play a sound. It really scared the cat.

I suggest getting one of those.

Prevention is better than cure, use the money to properly secure your garage rather than getting an image of someone wearing a balaclava.

This, all due respect op forget the idea, it's flawed. Invest in a door or lock that's easy to open and close, better yet just use the door until it breaks, I bet it doesn't for years on end.

Something like this:
Just saw this so have no idea how great it would be but seemed to be what you would be looking for.
Also maybe a trail camera which takes pictures for motion may be worth looking into as they have come down in price.

I too would be interested in a small concealabe camera that takes decent footage, our car has already been dented in its parking space and I'm really concerned because I'm working away a lot over the next year, so it will be left unattended for long periods of time.

I don't think that damage could have been done by anything other than a person just kicking it, could it? It's a quiet street with very little through traffic.

Mobius Action camera wired up to the mains, you'll want any camera facing into the Garage to stop light from blinding the camera.

As for in a car you can get an extension cable for the lens so you can have the bulk of the camera concealed and only the small lens out in the in the open.

The Mobius can be set up easily for motion/noise detection has full HD resolution clear image, you could wire it up to a monitor if you want to. And it can also be set to record continuously or take pictures continuously auto deleting or recording over old footage.
