A simple upgrade question.

I am behind with current gfx cards so i have no idea what the best ones are currently but a friend told me Radeon X1950 Pro is what i should use for a AGP motherboard as i currently have a 6800GT but want to get a better card for some newer games.

Would there be much difference upgrading from a 6800GT to a Radeon X1950 Pro? if so how much?

I noticed one on this site for £117 or around that so i wonder if anyone has any helpful views.

Thanks!

I guess it is about 33% - 50% faster, I would try and get a 512mb version

what games do you intend to play and you can check graphic card reviews on those games...

also, what cpu do you have?

I have an athlon 3500, it's a fairly old system, i want to play gears of war(whenever it works! haha), call of duty 4, bioshock and oblivion on decent settings.Yeah i am aiming for 512mb version so i guess it's worth buying? or shall i wait a few months and buy a new gaming pc altogether?

1600x1200 ideally with some AA and AF turned on.But i usually play games 1280x1024 though i can't seem to run some of the newest ones on good settings at this resolution.

OK, I would try and find a x1950 pro agp 512 card for £75 tops (second hand or new), and wait till last quarter 2008 for a new PC (just a suggestion)

a good 400 watt psu or abouts is required with about 22 plus amps on the 12v rail...
