Hi,

quick and simple. If I were to buy this cable for my Sata drive would I still need to plug the molex in? I am pretty sure this lead powers it too, but I want to be sure :)

cheers

Is your hard drive a Western Digital ? They are only for Western Digital drives as far as i know. As for your question, no it provides the power so you wouldn't need the power as wel as this lead.
I stand corrected. :(

Yes you will still need to plug in power.

tbh buying that cable is a waste of money!! The SATA leads that come with your mobo perform exactly the same and provided you route the cable sensibly they are more than adequately secure!

Well, WD wouldn't have gone through all the trouble of making a separate cable if the existing SATA cable was so perfect, would they? If you move computers around a lot, or if a secure connection is critical, you don't want to take chances with the normal cables.

The existing type being "More than adequately secure" is not necessarily true for some applications.
