hey,

it is about people with "bong eyes" those who have eyes that dont point in the same direction.. what do they see.... if anyone on the forum does have "bong eyes" can you answer this question for me?

thanks

The brain drowns one of the eyes input out and focuses more on the other eyes input. The stronger eye is typically the one looking at you, with the 'bong' eye being drown out.

Edit: My youngest has an eye that starts to drift to the side when he is tired/board/deep in thought, tho he has learnt to do it at will as well. I've suggested that if he could make both eyes go in the opposit direction (left one pointing left and right one pointing right) he could make a small fortune :p he can't manage it (yet!), but its helped him gain more control over it all anyway! :p

Never heard of it called "bong eyes" before

There was a lass on TV the other day who's eyes were looking in 2 different directions, she looked proper weird

From what I understand, although it looks like the eye is looking in a different direction it isn't, similar to a lazy eye, for example,

I have a lazy eye, one of my eye lids looks a lot lower over my eye than the other, makes it look like I'm half asleep all the time, but have exactly the same field of view out of both eyes (no idea how it works, but it does lol)

so your saying that while one eye in cases is drastically looking in another direction while the other is straight that the pupil still looks forward?

so they only see out of one eye? does that cause depth perception issues and such?

They can still see out of both eyes, it's just they cannot get them to focus on the same thing the brain drowns one out.

Typically they can tell the brain which eye to drown out, but they also typically get used to using a 'stronger' eye.

No.

You can read about it more here.

~Edit: as a side note, my step mum had brain surgery after a brain hemorrhage in her late teens. This left her with a very odd thing, in that even tho her eyes worked and focussed together perfectly, she would see double vision, but not left/right it was up/down! After time her brain started to drown out one of the images.

Bong eyes?!

Ha ha, that's great!

My mum can move both eyes independantly, she said she can't see 2 things at once but she can tell her brain to focus on one thing or the eye, so like someone said the brain overpowers your eye

I have a similar question. Are people with big teeth called goofy because they look like the cartoon character Goofy OR if the charater himself called Goofy because he has big teeth? What I'm getting at is; is that simply his name with no meaning on teeth and the association of that word and big teeth came afterwards.
