A thank/reputation system on the forum...

Rep system = popularity contest

I'd actually try to beat TW Fox and get even less rep than him....

But what would happen is people will figure that out and increase my rep.

Then i'll come out with that was my whole plan

People would become confused

Then it would be some inception style madness. Was that my plan or was it to counter or again counter the counter plan, or perhaps just UTTER MADNESS??????????????????????:confused:

What?

If it were ever implemented then I don't think there'd be a negativity rating.

This is what I was thinking of...

No, hate that sort of system. I can never be arsed to use it and then it's just an unsightly addition to each page, a waste of space. What's wrong with a verbal 'thanks'?

In forums like GD that are open topics wise, thanks buttons lead to smart ass comments by "Thanks whores" rather than useful contributions. I have seen other boards become useless because if it. I wouldn't like it here.

Nate

It would be useful on the other forums (General Hardware, Windows etc), but probably not GD for the reasons you state :p.

Its been said, it's a popularity contest. Or i can just get my friend Laura on here, she plays COD Black Ops online...that's worth at least a million reps :p.

Quick OT - Please could you look at my trust issue Burnsy?
Since my username change from Oxlde to Oxide™ I am unable to log into my trust account
I have sent numerous emails to mods and been told it will get looked at then nothing happens :(

It's to do with the "tm" in your user name.

Not much gets discussed in there then? ;)

Have your ears not been burning lately;):p

This is a great idea, and works brilliantly on many other forums I frequent. It makes it easier to separate the drivel from actual knowledgeable posts, too.

Definitely. I think it should be implemented, just not with the horrific spacing with every post listing every user name that thanked them underneath.
