A+ Tips from anyone who has done it

What sort of things do you learn about in the Security+? I'm doing my N+ in a couple weeks so need something new to do after that! :)

Its a good follow on. I took the N+ the same day as the A+ and epic failed it, so could do with retaking the N+ again sometime.

Security+ is a mixture of things from virus/malware, firewalls, NIDS, proxys, server/network security, how encryption works and the different types, SSH, SSL, physical security, etc. Quite varied. About half of it is straight forward, some takes a little learning (some terms are new but make sense) and a few more difficult areas but nothing too hard.

I did Sec+ a fewmonths ago (got a freebie through work), was actually decent fun and not very difficult at all.

Exam took me about 15 mins I think in the end

Out of curiousity what is all this for? Those looking to work in networking? Or well improve their CV from a networking perspective?

A+ is pretty much useless. Unless they have updated the course to make it more "modern".

Who cares about Windows 95??????????

Tend to agree, I fired up some of these test questions for the A+ and most of it was so irrelevant nowadays, but I'm sure (and would hope) it's been updated.

Yeh, its a newer course now, I did mine a while back it there was nothing about that.. As Bloomerz said, even a few Vista questions! Good job they updated the N+ exam this year too.. I read through the old version and it was awful, all about really old school networking!

Thanks for the info on the Sec+ might look into taking it as well at some point..
