A+ Twin Engine Case

The fact it has huge LED fans on it screams 'boy racer pc' to me instantly. As far as I can see if you buy it you are of the mind that bigger is better, more fans/higher speed fans creates better cooling, which is pish.

If you show me an office with Lian-Li cases in it I'll go work for them, Lian-Li cases are not office type cases at all, if you've only seen pictures of them and not seem one in the flesh (ahem allu) then you really don't know what you are mising. As far as I can remember there is only one decent image of a Lian-Li PC7 in the cases thread and it's this one by IT Troll.

The PC7 and Eclipse have brilliant space and cooling and are well styled (althought I don't like the Eclipse all that much) and there is good reason for most people on here liking them and not the cases that are a freak of nature like this A+ case. They are clean, smooth lined, well thought out and well cooled cases without the need for excessive fan size, plus they are fairly light too.

Oh, on the note of weight and build quality, my PC7 is 8KG (I think that's right) empty, and it's of amazing build quality. The reason that fugly thing is 12KG is because it's all mild steel, which is weighty and generaly isn't used as well as allu.

The problem with the Li-Lian cases are that the just look sooo boaring! They look like standard office gear for people who don't care how their case looks. It's not just because of how it looks that I thought it might be worth a mention, but also for the fact that they are looking at a different approach to cooling your case. The way temperatures are going with all your current hardware cooling is way more important than it ever has been. I don't know if you could even run a modern gaming setup without cooling fans on your case.
I'm gonna get one just to see how it performs compared with my mate's TT Kandalf and just compare general build quality.
Don't go assuming that just cos something that looks cheap from a distance is automatically a pile of crap not worth spending even a tenner on.

I'm not assuming when I say they are crap, I saw one in a shop and managed to break the door :o :p

Lian Li are sleek looking, cool very well and have excellent build quality. By all means spend your money but you'll regret it in a few months when you decide to sell and can only get £15 for it.

well my boy has it in black and it does look a lot better than the silver,if your looking for a case thats quite and has good airflow then you cant really go wrong with this, not everyone is going to like the same things, so if you like it go for it remember this is a full size case lots of room inside for your fancy graphics cards :D and what ever else you want to chuck in .

No one needs that much airflow. It's just pointless noise and power consumption. 2 120mm fans is more than enough for 99% of systems, and in some cases may well be more effective than those massive fans blowing in all different directions, not to mention a lot less noisy.

Basically, I don't see the point in having loads of fans. Just get the bare minium. Most systems only really need an exhaust fan anyway. :)

Mekrel, take 5 seconds to read any review of this case and you'll discover the build quality is very high. I guess your powers of inspection aren't quite what you thought.

Fine, if you don't like the look of it then fair enough, but at least it's trying to be original. I have to say that all the thermaltake cases bore the crap out of me, at least this one's trying to be unique.

My powers of inspection are fine thank you :)

I used to work in a IT custom build / repair company building but I actually co-worked with a software developer doing software deisgn using File Maker pro. During the spare time I found between projects, or when I finished data sorting of companys old records (usually excel documents) and waiting for boss to come back I used to roll up my sleves and make custom builds with the hardware side of things.

I've worked with many cases, and the simple fact is all these "unique" cases with their 25cm fans are not of high build quality at all compared to Lian li, some antec cases, the eclipse and the old ATCS cases.

Thick, full aluminum cases are worth the money you pay (PC7 is a bargain at around 50ish pounds it was when I last checked).

Plastic + steel isn't worth 70 pounds.

As for air flow, 2*120mm fans in the setup below (which I no longer have) cooled a Opteron at 1.52v with a 1.7v northbridge, 1.3v HT link, over volted X1800XL. The system was highly overclocked with a lot of over voltage and it was cooled fine and quiet.

I want an office full of regular looking lian li cases :p .I did a build for someone in a Thermaltake Soprano yesterday,i told the guy to get a PC7,he said that the Thermaltake looked better. When he came to pick up the PC today, first thing he said ! , "wow,i love that case, what is it?".Told him it was the lian li PC7 and that for just 7 quid extra he could have had one.Usual response," Damn this Thermaltake looks crap and weighs a tonne compared to the Lian Li ".Quality speaks for itself :D
