Pizza Hut is hiring an intern this summer to be in charge of its Twitter account. A "Twintern".

So what would a 20-year-old business major Tweet about Pizza Hut this summer?

Some ideas:

"Suffering PANormous™ hangover after huge beer pong/pizza poker wknd. Pizza poker: remove one 'topping' for each lost hand."

"Pitching idea to Dough Enhance team of beer pizza. Or pizza beer. 2 perfect friends in 1 food. Like Reese's. Hey, maybe Reese's Pizzas."

"New cashier in east Cleveland PH is hotter than the mega-chili super pan pizza I've been testing. Babe, come be my Pizza Mia™!"

So much power for one intern. So much potential for mayhem in 140 characters.

Why is it sad? Twitter is an extraordinary marketing tool, works wonders for both small and large businesses. If you don't "get" Twitter from a marketing perspective, then you are most likely unqualified to do so anyway (i.e. haven't used Twitter for long enough to be in a position to judge, or don't understand marketing).

I don't "get" twitter from a marketing perspective. Surely if you're not reading the thread of comments left by the "Twintern" then it has zero chance of selling Pizza Hut to you?

Why would I sign up to receive comment from a company who will clearly only be trying to sell themselves to you?

Twitter is an excellent marketing tool. The sad thing is the circumstances which result in it being an excellent market tool.

Twitter is for those with the concentration span of a knat, and think Newsbeat is a great way of delivering news.

The sooner it crashes and burns the better really.

This is stupid, why can't they share it between top people in the company??? Waste of money surely???
