A/V Receivers - how to tell if they can upscale S-video?

As title really.

I have lots of retro consoles, the best outputs from them are S-video.

I'd like to get a decent picture from them on something like a Hyundai A321 32" LCD, so I figure a bit of upscaling is just what the doctor ordered.

How can I tell if an A/V Receiver offers this feature? Presumably, I'll input S-video, it'll output component and / or DVI / HDMI?

Only way to tell is to look at the website of the make of a/v receiver really, or if you can have a look at the rear of the receiver see if its got s-video inputs, and see what outputs its got.

I know the more expensive denons can even do hdmi upscaling.

Wont the tv panel do it automatically - then you cna just get a half decent s-video switch box

Cant remember how many s-video inputs the 1906 has but at best it has two, with one output (i think osd for denon only goes thru s-video)

is s-video the same as s-vhs?

Upscaling is something I really wish my Yammy AX-620 would do :(

But yeah, can't you just run feeds directly into the TV and run audio cables into the amp?

I think anything after the 03 range of Denons upscale. 3802 doesn't but I think the 3803, 3805 and 3806 all do.

The 2803 didn't, but the 2805 did iirc.

The only way to tell is to look at the specs of the machine. It will be in big letters and advertised well as it's a very popular feature right now for these amps.
