whatever happened to Alan Wake. Absolutely no news on this since original announcement E3 2005? Thought this was going to be the showcase for DX10 and Vista gaming.

Is this game ever going to see the light of day?

tech demo looked awesome, but that was 3 years ago, if it ever gets released - will it be that cutting edge as it promised to be?
 
He's probably shacked up in some fallout bunker with Duke Nukem :D

News reports I've seen say it's been put back till 1st quarter 2009 apparently.
 
RE 360 will make it less of a game. Just a reminder that COD4 was available for both PC and console, and that did not ruin PC version. In fact it was better on PC. Why should this be different for A Wake?

i know we're moving away from the point of the thread in many ways, but i have to disagree. I have a top spec pc (see sig) and i recently bought a 360 and i was very surprised as to how good some of the 360 games look. And upcoming games, such as gears of war 2 seem to be sqeezing even more out of the console. I'm sorry, but I really don't see how a "half decent PC" could run graphics as good as gears of war 2...

I am NOT a console fan boy, i just decided to buy a 360 cos i happened to have a good few months work wise. Tbh, i was kind of expecting it to hardly be used, but i've hardly touched my pc for gaming since i bought it!
 
as we know hyped games invariably fail to live up to billing ....*yawn* crysis

and yeh if it's coming out on the consoles it's unlikely to be the groundbreaking game we've all been told about.

have to agree with that. Although it was ground breaking when announced, but that is ancient history today, not to mention tomorrow. Interseting to see if they have since revised game design and added new stuff.
 
Avidly consumed every scrap of info about this game a couple of years ago and thought that it was a very ambitious project. The longer it takes the more I’m convinced that they can’t convert the ideas into an enjoyable game play experience. But I’m still massively interested to see what eventually materialises in 2009 or 2010 or 2011 or 2012 (this could go on all night :rolleyes:).

The 360 comment is technically true, it is 4 year old technology now (the hardware was finalized a year before its release) and far far far from cutting edge.
 
I not really bothered about it any more it been in production a long while and unless they updated the graphics since last time i saw the screenshots it better have very good game play and/or story.
 
The bar been raised a few times since they shows the demo or what ever it was off and the bar should be raised more by the time it is out, looking forward to farcry 2 as that looks good.

You mean how a X1950 Pro can max out Gears of War on PC? (at 1280x1024)

Considering it's coming out on PC it can still be cutting edge, it's not a port and judging from the 2006 footage it looks amazing.
