Hey all,

I need a temporary car, and am pondering an a4 tdi as a temporary car. My only issue is that the car has done 150k. It has FSH, drives nice but the clutch bite is very high.

What would be a reasonable price to pay for it?

Presumably a B6 so... £2k or so?

Thank you Foxy! He only wants £1500 for it so figured I'd take it and if I can't sort out my own car run that into the ground instead!

Sounds a fair price. I paid £1k (well bid £900 + indemnity at auction) for a 2003 Passat TDI with 140k on it, so an extra £500 for the Audi would sound about right to me.

How has yours been since owning it? As far as I'm aware the only issue with the a4 is that the rear wiper doesn't work!

Is it an avant?
I didn't know the saloons had rear wipers.

Ignore what i said, i reread the topic title, clearly not feeling well this morning.
My work friends has an audi tdi, it has done 120k, maybe 130k, he put virtually all the miles on himself, it has never missed a beat.

Family member just bought a similar car, 2003 (i think) saloon with about 130k and they paid just over £2k, from a trader though so privately I'd expect to pay a bit less.

That particular car is pretty decent actually, good history with recent belt, mechanically good, bodywork good with the only thing letting it down being the interior switches which always seem to get worn as the A4's get older.

Easily solved though

Edit: oh the clutch bite's really quite high on that car too - I couldnt' get it to slip no matter what I done though and it wouldn't pull off in higher gears

Mine is on 248k has been very reliable had it since 120k when it was four year old.
My rear wiper went aswell, it's a common problem, the seals go inside and it lets water through and burns out the motor.
Have had to do usual stuff like brakes and clutch (expensive)DMF I do my own labour so not so bad.
So yeah it's been a good car for me, just use it for fishing mainly now as I tend to drive the 3 series daily.
