Just had a wander up to OcUK to exchange somthing (pending testing) and spotted a speed camera van combined with a police motorbike just opposite the royal mail depot thing, gun facing the way if you were traveling form the M6 towards Uttoxeter, Blythe Bridge etc.

Just a heads up for any motorists.

ps. Was there at about 1230 this afternoon and still there at 4 when i went back past

Let me guess, either you've never travelled at 70.1mph or you don't hold a driving license.

Others have better things to do that drive along watching their speedo, maybe looking ahead for early observation for one.

Theres always one....... sigh.

Oh no, have I violated that unspoken macho rule? Do I not know the password? Am I not in the boy's club?

It's rather simple. If you stick to the speed limits and don't deliberately speed, which I am sure you do, which is why you are all so hot and bothered about speed cameras (and even lie about it), then you wouldn't have to worry and brake every time you see a speed camera, no doubt to put your foot down again as soon as you are out of its range.

Maybe your journey would take an extra ten minutes, but hey, why are you so important? Why does the law not apply to you?

You won't get done for doing 70.1mph  and besides, I am talking about deliberate speeding. Don't give me that "crept over the limit" nonsense, because it's fairly obvious that most men think it's fine to go 80 or even 90 on the motorway when they think they will get away with it....and even lie about it like it's some private joke - "I crept over the limit" nudge nudge wink wink

So you prefer spending most of your time watching the speedo than the road?

Already had that one. A quick split-second glance every 10 seconds is adequate, I mean, unless you just floor the accelerator, release, floor, release, or something moronic like that.

Fair point, but IMO theres a lot more to be worryng about on the roads than a copper behind every bush. Dont get me wrong, i dont speed as such, took me too long to get my licence, so i aint gonna argue over going 80 rather than 70.

You're right, and I even think they should up the speed limit for motorways/dual carriageways, but some people just speed on purpose, plain and simple, and brake every time they see a speed camera, which is just dangerous....but can they blame that on the government?

Think about it this way - if no one ever sped, would there be any speed cameras on the roads? Who is to blame for the speed cameras being there? The macho men, the boy racers and the people who speed.

It's their own fault.

I'm not saying I am perfect and I never accidentally speed, but like I said, it's the people who do it on purpose that are to blame for speed cameras even being there in the first place.

How is someone braking for a speed camera dangerous, if they are doing 80mph and slow down to 70mph? You are doing 70mph so you wont be close enough to them to have to brake.

A lot of people have equally never heard of the two-second rule. A few times while driving on the dual carriageway at 70mph I have looked in my rear-view mirror only to see an extreme closeup of some scum wagon with a spotty 17 year old behind the wheel, the front of their garish 3hp monstrosity literally two feet from my back bumper.

Now, imagine I was your typical man, and we were both doing 80, and I hit the brakes for a speed camera....

Depends really, you wouldnt thinks its dangerous, but the way ive seen a lot of people jump on the brakes you would think there was a small child in front of them.

Theres a camer along dual cariageway ebside me and its a 70 mph stretch of road, but the camera is about 1/4 mile outside a 50mph road, the amount of people slamming their brakes on to get down to 50 from 70 is unreal.

Thats a good one, but the one ive heard and seems to be a better judgement is...

'Can you read the guy in fronts registration?'

if yes, your too close. Heard that off a limo driver that got taught it on a driving course.

I said how is it dangerous for you, not people driving 2ft off each other’s bumper. Also if people are looking at the road in front not the Speedo then they should see the large yellow metal box in good time.

That is very annoying, if you are lucky they are in the inside lane so you can pass them at 70.

No, you said:

How is someone braking for a speed camera dangerous,

You're lucky I bothered to answer it. Stellios gave a pretty good example, there's two answers.

Also if people are looking at the road in front not the Speedo then they should see the large yellow metal box in good time.

If people were looking at the speedometer all the time they wouldn't care about the "large yellow metal box" anyway. Not that either "method" is responsible driving.

Contrary to what the macho men believe, people who obey the speed limit do not spend their entire time staring at the speedometer to the point where they just crash into each other, walls etc.

Why do you think men have to pay higher insurance? It's the "boy's club" that are to blame.
