A64 3500+ Overclock

hey, your psu could be the source of your troubles but then it could easily be something else?!

you could try slowly stepping up the cpu freq. slowly i.e. 1 each time and see if its stable, then you might be able to get a bit more out of it.

iv stepped mine up to 235*11 now got it running at around 2588mhz and seems stable so far :D

if u run the super pi 1mb test and see what you get, doesn't take long, i get 36s at 2.5ghz

Seen these go up to 2.6ghz easily mate but will need a voltage increase

ye mate i primed it for a few hours yesterday, about 3 or 4 and was fine, havent had chance to test it at 2588 yet tho however. will let you no when i do!

m cpu runs at 56/57 under load, i have standard cpu fan, two 80mm exhaust fans, one 80mm side fan, and my psu has a fan dragging air out of the back aswel.

have u tried tweaking yours a bit higher yet?

o ye i tried mine at 237*11 to get 2.6 and it didnt like it! :(

o dear ye its probably safe to stay at 2.4 then if the temps are getting high, you dont want to fry your cpu now do ya?!

i dont think mines stable at 2588 had an error in prime :(

but my cpu is a newcastle core and runs hot anyway, even before i overclocked it ran in the 50's under load, since overclocking it has only gone up a couple of degrees! but ye im still gona order a new cooler for it in a couple of days, im either going to get the arctic cooler 64 pro or the gigabyte one, any ideas anyone?

I had my A3500+ Venice at 2.8 stable, sold it on the bay as FX57 equiv PC (bought stuff n assembled) (kinda lie becyase of cache size), but was money spinner :)

that was 255 x 11

EDIT: That was on a ASRock 939 dual SATA with Corsair XMS RAM

seen what you've done there mate! :p 2.8 stable is a good overclock, mine seems to have hit a brick wall at 2.6!

does anybody know what the max voltage i can put into this chip?

I'll give a blast and see what I can get. :D

Oh my I love this cpu. I wish I'd come to AMD sooner.

Thats realy impressive mate, youve managed to get the same speed as me out of it and its a 3200 aswel! Nice one.

Thinking of upgrading to an opteron 146 now... iv got the upgrade bug :p

before i do i will push the volts up as i have my new cooler and see if i can hit 2.7 mark with my 3500, then it doesnt matter if it melts lol :D

I ran my 3500+ Newcastle at 2.6 for a few months with a slight increase in voltage. Have been running stock since I rebuilt though, might give it another go later
Keep us updated, my newcastle is running at 2.6 stable at the mo :)

cant seem to get it any higher - fairly sure 2.6 is the highest these will go
