I know this is silly, but i put in a creative sound blaster live (model CT4780) pci card into the asus A8n Sli premium board. I know there are issues with this set up, but can it really kill the bois chip on the asus board. Im sure this is what has happened. I know of this situation with a A8N sli deluxe, and another creative live card killing a board, but im at a loss to as why it happens, and is there another way round apart from getting another bois chip for the motherboard ?

I wouldnt have thought a soundcard would kill a mobo ( unless the machine was on whr you inserted it  )

Not heard of an issue with soundblaster live and Nforce4 chipsets, it wa s the early X-Fi cards that had the problem AFAIK

Im certain this creative live (model CT4780) will kill any asus A8N board. Ive seen this twice. How easy is it to aquire a new bois chip for the premium ? (ive already replaced the board cuz its borked).

Well ive googled it and cant find any problems other than a sysstem hanging, but not killing it.

Why do you want to use the SB Live, im fairly certain the onboard audio of your board ( same as mine ) is better than the SB Live

I didnt really want to use the creative live card , as was reluctant to put it in , and to my ears the creative live card has a better bass & treble response than the onboard audio ( the A8N audio was borked in the first place thus why i HAD to use a pci card). Using the said creative live card was prelude to me getting a x-fi card for my media pc, but as it is ive had to replace the board and currently sticking with the nforce audio this new board supplys. Thanks for your response any way chap.
