Has anyone set the AA to 8x in GRID?

Mine runs fine with all the graphic settings on max and AA on 4x but if I set the AA to 8x then it stutters even while loading the game.

I play at 1920x1200 with my 4870.

This proves that whilst this generation of cards are great you can envisage them showing they're age when certain new games come out around december.
This is a great leap performance / price but these and nvidias latest cards are no 8800gtx's that will eat anything alive for the next two years in fact I think I'll be forced to sell on and upgrade my 4850 when battlefield 3 or farcry 2 is here.

You have are at the limit of Vram at 8XAA on that game with detail settings maxed out.

Its not a GPU problem its Vram problem & people playing above 1680x1050 will most likely have a native res of 1920x1200 & will be on the realistic 512MB Vram limit with most games that are out now when pushing up the settings.

I'm holding out for the 1GB versions as i don't want my gaming limited by Vram as it should always be that the GPU was not up to the job any more.

Oh! 8xAA is allot in nearly any game.

Yep you've run out of vram at that res with 8xaa hence the stuttering. If you really wanted to play at that res with 8xaa you should have held out for the 1Gb version.

i'm sure i read a review that said a 4850 could plough through GRID @ 1680x1050 with 8xMSAA..... but mine doesn't. it's playable but it does stutter slightly......anyway 4xMSAA and i'm rocking. it's all good. :D

Well I knocked it down to 2xMSAA and can only see slight jaggies in the distance. Dont know why you people see jaggies as MSAA is very good at getting rid of them.

Dont mean to tread on your toes Kalpsn2000, just curious as to why people are getting jaggies at stupid resolutions with MSAA applied.
