Ok, i keep getting the " clock request secondary processor" error and now it has changed to hardware error and vista wont boot up.... I didnt want to post here as ive had a stable overclocked system for a while now so i thought i could remedy it.. Before i display dump files and error messages i just want to see if theres a logical explanation.....

Most of the time ive been overclocking the pc has been laying on its side (open)..
stability was confirmed by repeated sandra burn in tests, cinebench, pcmark vantage ... all without restart and the pc being left on to complete these runs all day
I have 790i asus clocked to 4.2ghz...
having settled at this clock speed i closed pc case etc and set it up in the office underneath desk and attached a new lcd monitor.. samsung syncmaster 30 inch
The only settings that i changed were to use nvidia to scale image...
Ive noticed that the mb temp in pc probe is giving me overheat warnings at 45c which maybe due to the pc location under desk but still doesnt directly explain this error..
I did plug in the usb hub on the lcd panel before booting into windows i think and that has caused me probs in the past with alpha lcd display or old lcd display (usb hub error)
tried to uninstall drivers in safe mode but my mouse and keyboard are usb which is a tedious predicament.
My last resort is to reformat and reinstall windows unless something else can be suggested

In attempts to reformat and reinstall windows the system keeps locking up during the install with bsod... I can boot from the windows cd but any repair attempts are halted by bsod before completion.. The memory test worked fine which should rule that out.. I updated a sata controller a few weeks back from the asus site but the system has been stable up and til now... All i am trying to do is install windows now on the same system and im still getting bsod which indicates a hardware problem.. I am in the process of cleaning out my rig and reinstallind all components one by one to get to the bottom of this.... My hdd have not been performing to well as described in the hdd section so im assuming that the sata raid controllers or actuall hard disk configuration may have messed up some how.. Any suggestions wise ones???

I notice you said you stress tested while the side was off, and while it was not under your desk.

I would say that's your problem there, Stress testing should be done under the same conditions you intend to run the system.

Having the side of the PC back on, and having it under your desk will be adding heat to an overclocked system. And no doubt, That's what's causing your trouble.
