Hi all,

Stupidly turned on 'ultra fast' boot on my Gigabyte AB350 to see what it did and it appears to have borked my PC - just get:

Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key

What's even worse is it appears this stupid ultra fast boot mode means I can't get into the bios anymore?!? (What a daft feature!!)

I've tried holding F3 which is the usual boot thing.

I also read online to take the CMOS battery out for a minute and reboot, but the same thing is happening....

Can anyone help?!?!?

Have you tried smashing it rather than holding?

Battery out for a minute won't be enough to forget settings.

Yeah, tried pressing it non-stop, although this is apparently a 'feature' that it permanently disables BIOS access?!?! I'm close to getting the hammer if that's what you mean by smashing it..... ;)

Ah, ok was following the instructions - how long should I leave it out? (Another moan is they need to move the bloody CMOS battery location on motherboards, having to take out the graphics card every time is a real pain!)

I'm pretty sure it's the Delete key and not F3 you need to be spamming.

As for clearing CMOS, make sure to turn off the mains as well (of if your PSU has a switch you can turn it off there). Sometimes spamming the power button while the battery is out help clears out any remaining charge.

It was actually the F3 key, but you nailed it re the power cord - never realised that - worked great after that!

Thanks!

:D Yup. I have a board with the battery on the top (near the RAM slots), but in between the CPU cooler and the top of the case. Depending on the cooler size, it can be a pain too.
