abit nv8 what can i upgrade cpu to ?

not sure where to put this.....got an old skt 754 system athlon 3700 doing nothing and thought id pull it out of mothballs to use my old crt again..

anyone know what cpu i can get for this ? i'm sure ive read the mobo can be flashed to support dual core cpu's cam anyone help ?

I'm pretty sure a 3700+ is about the best CPU you can get for a Socket 754 board. I'm also pretty certain there are no Socket 754 dual core CPUs at all, so you're best off either dealing with it as it is or just canning the board/CPU/RAM and buying some other 2nd hand bits.

i think the mobo can be flashed / updated bios to take new cpu.... read it somewhere ages ago

I think you have the best processor you can get for that motherboard.

I agreee with what Phemo said. I'm 99% sure there were no dual core S754 processors.

Unfortunately there is no better CPU to put in there:

The BIOS update likely added support for the Semprons which were out after the S754 3700+ was.

.....grr ........ok guys thanks for your replies .....seems i'm going to have to fork out abit extra cash to get myself up and running then ...was hoping to do it on teh cheap...

now need mobo , cpu , + graphics card... and probably some ram....just to get some modern crt goodness lol.. any ideas ? £300 max prob
