Have acquired this Sitecom switch from a friend, is there any configuration page etc? Have tried the usual 192.168.1.254 but get nowhere and short of trying from x.x.x.1 and going up, wondered if anyone knew. The documentation is utter **** as seems to be the way these days!

Was also going to try and put it between my Homehub and the network to speed things up a bit - do I need to turn anything off on the Homehub? Was assuming DHCP etc would need to be tuned off?

Cheers!

that looks like an unmanaged switch to me, its just plug and play...no settings page.

Figured as much, but assumed that I would have to disable something to enable it to work with the BT Homehub? Otherwise I'd have 2 switches on the network right?

Switches dont act as a DHCP server, so adding a switch to a network wont conflict with the DHCP on the router. If you tried to add a router to your network instead of a switch, then you would have to disable DHCP on one of the routers, but thats not the case here as you are not doing that.

The switch is just to add ports. I run the same way. Netgear Gigabit switch and Netgear Router. Works a treat. No settings on the switch at all. The router is just the gateway and thats all. The ports should be autosensing, but if it doesnt work, you may need a crossover cable to join them.

Unmanaged switches are plug and play, and don't offer services like DHCP so there is nothing you need to 'turn off' on the homehub.

Just make sure you never end up with two cables between the homehub and the switch, otherwise you get a broadcast loop or storm, and things get slow/broken very quickly :)
(..until you unplug one of the cables)

Great, thought as much. Hopefully might improve my network speeds if I can take the Homeplugs out of the network side and only use them to link to the switch from the Homehub for internet access.

Will now spend all of tomorrow buggering up my network! :D
