About bloomin Time!

What you are basically saying is... you bought your own car and think everyone else should do the same because YOU did it?

Nichte. The guy is clearly being given a car as a present from his parents. Absolutely no problem with that but because it seems he wants to stick crap wheels on it, have it lowered, install an MP3 player, etc (assuming at the parents expense) it just sounds like ungratefulness. Most people I have known to acquire their 1st vehicle this way haven't respected them as much as they probably would have had they purchased it themselves. Had he done so I wonder whether such pointless "mods" would be planned either.

So in answer to your question. No.

i think people need to cut him some slack, when your younger, you like pimpin wheels etc...just the way of life...in RL, everyone doesnt roll in stock e39 5's and mond's...

Gah guys come on give the lad a break now this is getting boring.

I agree with the two posts above, I have been there and done that..got the Tshirt etc. There is no need to jump on a bandwagon and make him out the bad guy, fair enough it's not to your taste but no need to take the wee like that. He will grow up and learn his lesson without your bullying (and I don't wanna hear any of this "it's a different opinion BS"). I used to think that max power cars were awesome when I was 16/17, I also thought that power rangers were awesome when I was little...but I grew up...and learned that they weren't.

In all honesty, the wheels are gash and the car is nice for a first motor... just don't go over the top as you WILL regret it, you can tell by the reaction of an internet forum is just a sample of how people will react in RL!

oops, never re-read it, ment to read

Provisional = £1100
Pass = £1100
Pass Plus = £1100

Thats a load of nonsense, Provision insurance is a lot cheaper as you'll always be with a responsible driver, it will then bump up as soon as your on the road on your own and if you have pass plus you will se discounts of up to 25% and what you learn on the course is invaluable. Also if you will be the main driver on your mums insurance you will be fronting and you wont earn your own NCB, get your own policy and add your parents as named drivers, at least that way you will stay legal and earn NCB

I dispise the people who say "he's a kid lay off" i passed my test at 20 and had no desire to lower my car and add some "h00pz". i'm 21 and my next car will be a bog standard Fiesta and my fun will be had with a 205GTi, which will also be bog standard bar engine mods and maybe a loud zorst :p

Also I agree with the above, I learnt to drive and have always been a named driver with a nice car for my age (to the average joe), it seemed like a great idea. However, the biggest regret is being a named driver!!! I have to wait till I am 21 to scrape a NCB before I can insure anything fun :(

Take it from me, go fully comp even if it means downgrading.

Was just about to say that marky.

There is a lot of growing which happens for some between 17-20. Even I had that 'phase' but decided to stick to tasteful OEM mods :p

I can't understand why teenagers, etc. love putting chav tat on their cars. I mean, I'm 17 and would love an old Merc or something similar, but my mates think I'm crazy.

That's maybe going a bit far. You don't want to come over all James May at 17 :p

Thought you were older than that. I'm 19, had a fiesta since 17 but am now looking at cars between an A4, 318i and Mondeo territory, something a bit bigger, because you get more for your money. It amazes me though how I know people who are 21 still driving their first car of a corsa, 206 or clio, covered in absolute rubbish, being boy racers every day of the week; shameful really.

The only mod I've done for my fiesta is get rid of the toilet plunger gear stick thing and got a leather one instead.

I've never had any desire to do stupid things to cars, like putting horrid wheels on them, adding needlessly loud exhausts or putting lexus lights on them, etc.

If I didn't get the old mini, I'd have got a 306 or a feista or something, and left it as it was.

Mini is being kept standard, heck, I'm even removing the "cooper sport" badge as it isn't a cooper sport, it's just a cooper! All I plan to do is swap the dash for a walnut one (maybe with a centre dial...) and re do the sound system in there, as it's only front speakers at present are tweaters, which sounds rather bad. I'm planning on just something small and quality rather than a massive bass hungry system.
