About to get the new macbook 2.2 under full education discount.
Going to chuck in a 2gb crucial module to bring it up to 2.5GB
Then chuck windows on with boot camp for dual use (mostly OSX mind ;))
Will be my second mac, my first being one of the first Mac Mini PPCs to come into the UK :)

Question are really,
Whats the best value for money case for it?
How long do we think apple will take to deliver it?

With boot camp are there any issues when installing windows - i.e installing the right drivers etc? Is there a good website to read? Do i just download BC from apple as an application?

Cheers

:)

took just over 10 days for my custom built MBP to be delivered.

So I'd expect about the same.

The neoprene cases are highly recommended I should have one coming for my MBP.

I'm not custom building it though - its going to be a stock product?

I'm buying the crucial memory separately :)

I'll look out for the neo cases.

Fantastic , thats what i like to hear :) :( Hm i should order it this morning really but the guy who gave me his number is not in until 10am :( Do they get commission?

Edit:

Im leaving at 10 and won't b back until 5:30/6 :(

I think they do get commission. I rang up once just to check a price and he really wanted to make sure that if i bought something i got it from him. Can you not order online, or are you trying to blag HE discount?

Don't need to blag HE discount :) I am a uni student haha. And yea he did the same, which i can understand, plus he was really helpful informing me about 3 Year apple care etc. I presume you got the 3 year apple care too?

The MacBook supports over 2GB? I always thought 2x1GB modules is about the limit for the MacBook (MacBook Pro however is different) - or am I just confused from everyone upgrading to 2x1GB only (due to pricing of 2GB sticks)

Apple said:
1GB (two 512MB SO-DIMMs) of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300); two SO-DIMM slots support up to 4GB

I've just double checked, looks like it does...

Edit: The Core 2 Duo MacBooks supports up to 4GB RAM whilst the Core Duo ones supports 2GB max. (Mine is a Core Duo... so 2GB for mine, that's why...)

So will mine support 4GB? (bought it in September before updates).

Ordered it :)

Question for anyone. Is it really worth getting the 64bit version of Windows XP rather than the Windows XP 32bit Home edition?

I actually found Vista Home Premium for cheap as cheaps so got that instead. Ultimately i'll be using OSX mostly, just got vista just in case :)

The discounted price of £713...

Is that the macbook with the DVD write in ?
Also did you get the 3 year warranty? If so how much did that cost?

Ry :)
