About to play a new MMO Whos with me?

Rift's definitely not pay to win. Subscribing doesn't open up any content at all, it just provides bonuses, daily gifts, etc. Premium currency is mostly for mounts, outfits, pets, store discounts and stuff. The gear in the store is never as good as what you can get in dungeons/raids.

You need to decide on the Guardian or Defiant faction. The quest storyline is more fantasy based for Guardian, more tech based for Defiant. The classes are the same, the races are different. It makes no difference for dungeons and raids. In PVP you often just get assigned to the opposite faction anyway.

I'd recommend Typhiria as the server. It's the newest EU server, very busy. The older ones will be more end game stuff.

Right then, i'll be in for this, Server? i think Gelidra has a decent amount of Euros on it, unless anyone else has anything else in mind? if we play there i can prob donate the cash too for a Guild etc

Holy crap RIFT looks amazing!

EDIT - Few years old now though?

I'm on a low-ish end system and unfortunately Rift has a terrible engine and is generally optimised poorly and runs like a dog, especially for the end-game content. That's a shame because the actual game I really enjoyed for the most part, but after playing for quite a long time pre-expansion and seeing 99% of the games content (never made it to the last couple of raid bosses, but then VERY few did...) I grew to the point where the little performance annoyances etc just got the best of me and I gave up.

guess ff14 is out then. not really interested in rift, played it a while back and was too much like wow which ii wasnt really into, at least ffxiv has its own personality, was seriously into ffxi as well, guess i just like games with a bit of a story and cut scenes to follow while your leveling, not really into pvp either cos i suck at it lol.

Good man. So we can go whatever faction it all gets to the same point?

Yes, both factions are essentially one now. I think there are still separate cities for them in the old vanilla Rift world, but Tempest Bay (Storm Legion city) is the main hub now where both factions are at level 50+.

I think at low level though, both factions start in separate areas, but can still group, quest and instance together. If there are a group starting from scratch though it might be worth going the same faction, but ultimately it doesnt matter long term.

For levels 1-50 the quests are totally separate between factions. 50-60 most are shared. But all raids and dungeons are shared.

You start based in different cities, miles apart. You can't go to the other city, the guards will kill you.
