Hi

I have bought a focus Zetec 1.8 MP3 2003 reg. Now I would have thought it would have ABS being 2003 but there is not ABS light on the dash, no fuse in the space it should be in the box and has rear drum breaks.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

I think it should have ABS, being a facelift - but could not tell you why you can't see a light.

Cars with rear drum brakes can have ABS. Have you tried an emergency stop to see what happens?

For some reason Ford didn't make ABS standard on anything except the Mondeo until recently. I don't think the new Fiesta got ABS until late 2003. If there's no fuse and no light on the dash when you start it, I'd say there's no ABS.

My 1999 mondeo has drum brakes, but has the optional pack which gives it traction and ABS. It cost £500 as an optional extra.

Its unfortunate that ford never gave it as standard :(

ABS was an option on the MP3, although i think some of the very late ones came with it anyway. ABS light should illuminate when ignition switched on, if it doesnt you dont have ABS.

I had an MP3 and it didnt have ABS.

I enjoyed it tbh, was my 3rd car. It was a year old when i bought it. Only owned her a year when i decided to sell, just because i wanted a bit more power. Only ever had 1 problem with it, a leaky pipe near the petrol tank which was replaced under warranty.

I stuck a set of 18" TSW Pace alloys on and lowered her 35mm, she looked fab!!

I sometimes wish id have kept the MP3 and had some half decent MPG instead of my current car ... Honda Accord Type-R (VTEC YO!)
