I recently moved to a new place due to change of job, with that, I decided, I'll finally be able to get rid of my horrid Renault Clio '52 plate.

Went to a Toyota dealer last weekend, test drive a couple of cars and went for the iQ (vs Aygo) because I like it and after all the hassle of road tax, mot and unreliability, the iQ ticked all the quality and assurance I wanted.

Anyway, long story short, I stupidly forgot to change my licence address and after signing the road registration and apparently, varified with Toyota 3 day insurance, I realise my address on the card is the old one! (moved in just over 3 weeks).

Now the paperwork won't match, and according to the sales lady, I might not be able to pass the finance paperwork as they are perticularly PITA about such thing? Picking up the car tomorrow IF all is OK (she's double checking if the finance company will allow me to use my recent credit card bill, council tax bill and utility bill as proof of address today)

I have my paper licence filled out with new address now and ready to post if I can't pick up the card tomorrow due to my absentmindedness! (Can take up to 2 weeks to wait for the card return :()

What else can I do?

p.s. I NEVER realise it's a criminal offence to not have an up to date licence until yesterday at the dealers!

I guess you could pray to god that you do fail the finance check and then you're not lumbered with a brand new iQ?

Nothing wrong with an iQ... Don't need a fast car, just wanted a nice quality japanese car, nice mpg to boot too. Plus, don't want to loose my deposit :/

I think you could've done better out of Kia or Hyundai if you really wanted 'zero hassle' motoring. I really don't think the iQ can be classed as a quality car. You pretty much have to decide if you want a boot or rear seats too, you can't have both.

Well I guess you could put a bag of crisps in there.

Surely you just give them your current address with proof and also your address for the last five years, I wouldnt worry too much just ring the finance company directly and cut out the middle men

id rather have my arms amputated than drive a kia or hyundia. toyota all the way.

If you put a Kia or Hyundai badge on an iQ no one would bat an eyelid, it looks cheap and it's miles too expensive. The new Kia Picanto is pretty good for a cheap small city car.

i just have a huge irrational dislike for the brand based on how i perceived them whilst growing up. put any badge on the car you like, its still a very small city car (quite a clever one at that if the marketing can be beleived) but with a Kia badge, it wouldnt even make it on the shortlist, or even the list for that matter.

My missus and I are pretty much billy no mates, so we are happy with a 2 seater. The extra seat behind the passenger is great. The seat behind the driver can fit a baby when we do go down that route, but by then, it's time to change, so we're happy with the purchase.

The interior is better than the Hyundai i10 I was thinking of, great value but too 'meh?' Maybe I am being a brand snob but if Scion iQ was sold here and I get the same deal or better, I know I would. Otherwise, Toyota's warranty, quality and knowing that this car is actually 'Made in Japan' adds points in my book. I want tempted by the Aygo till I drove it. The gear stick is non existent, it' like moving a stick in the air.

By the way, most of my mates are orient, so they can contort in the back - but 9 times out of 10, we'll use it as boot space.

I just got a phone call from one of the managers at Toyota (Wakefield), my worry have been lifted! All I need is to bring my licence and an alternate proof of address like council tax and I'll be OK. Phew!

Still, I have since changed my drivers licence online via DVLA and will send them off tomorrow after picking up the car. Looking forward to it now!
