Absolut or Stolicnaya Vodka for White Russians?

Just wondering what easily found good Vodka I should use with Kahlua for White ruissians, and also what cream/milk people use? I have some whole milk but it doesn't seem to be right.

Also as per the thread title - Stolicnaya or Absolut Vodka?

or any others you could reccommend please?

For a cocktail does it matter? Black russian fan myself.

Well you get some nasty vodka's and I am clueless about cocktails. Only ever had smirnoff from the pubs.

Stoli is good enough to drink on its own therefore I vote Absolut as I don't think it is quite as nice a vodka. Normally I'd just go with whatever I have particularly for a mixed drink. Zubrowka(Bison Grass) is a lovely Polish vodka but you wouldn't want to go mixing it with anything other than apple juice but consider this a recommendation to get some for when you are done with White Russians.

Any brand will do (within reason) if it's going to go in a White Russian.

cheers - wasn't sure if there were any discernible differences in brands - might go for absolut as I like the shape of the bottle :confused:

If you're mixing it doesn't matter. Stolichnya is (as already noted) good enough to drink neat. Same goes for Russky Standard and a couple of other brands.

Didn't realise many people drank Russian Standard on here. It's my favourite.

Before I found it on thedrinkshop.com, I had to get it from Harrods.

Got the Russky from Croatia at the airport for 9 €uros or something. Bargain!

Sounds good but why oh why did you have to show me that shop, I don't have enough money as it is and now I'm tempted to get myself some Boru, Stolichnaya and try that Russky Standart as well. I'll have to resist but there are some excellent spirits on that list
