I'm a bit ashamed to ask this really, but here goes...

When i edit a photo in Lightroom, say i want to change the exposure by 1 stop, I load up the picture, change the exposure, then go Export. But the exported image is no different from the original, why? :o

Thanks in Advance, Yarde

After you export are you opening the original file or the exported file? Lightroom doesn't change the original when you edit so you can revert if needed.

Right, What i'm trying to do, i keep reading about people creating HDR images from one RAW file by adjusting the exposure of the image in lightroom. So i thought i'd give this a go. So i opened the original image (filename: 0), so then i proceeded to change the exposure to, -3,-2,-1, +1, +2 and +3. exporting after each one. But when i view these new files (Using the windows picture viewer thingy), all the images are exactly the same as the original. Its as if i'm not clicking an "apply changes/edit" button in Lightroom, and the "edits" that i'm making and can see on screen are just "previews"?

Does that make any sense to you guys?

Yes.
Here's how you do it:
Original image on lightroom, you either create 'virtual copies' for x number of times you want then apply the exposure you want to each one THEN right click and export the file (make sure you note where you're saving it, file size and resolution) then use these exported files to work on your HDR

OR

You can just use that one original file, but export every time you edit -3, -2 e.t.c. on the exposure.

Lightroom edit files non-destructively i.e. the original file will not be changed in anyway. One simple click of 'Reset All' and it reverts back to original.

Hope that helps :)

can you post your export settings as a screen dump too?

I've just realised my stupidity! In that export window, i've had the file type set to Original! >_< changed it to JPEG just for a test, guess what, worked fine! Thanks Knowlesy (Via msn :p) That thanks to you guys as well! All is fine now! I just feel like an ass now :p
