Glad Hamilton is back, the team clearly need him at the helm. Russell confirmed his place in Mercedes once they can get bottas out. It was a seriously impressive showing.

As nice as it is to have Hamilton back, I wanted to see Russell in the car again to see if that is his performance level.

I feel bottas would outpace him on a track with so many corners, but I would like to have seen it too. That said, bottas has no chance with his race starts - what’s up with these at the moment, he just can’t seem to warm the tyres up, even with DAS.

Hard to see anyone coming remotely close to Hamilton here, last year he has as far ahead on pace.

I got to agree, whilst I am a Hamilton fan, I wanted to see Russell in the car this weekend for Round 2.

Anyway, hopefully a case for Hamilton to sign off in style, albeit, does not really need to, simply a stunning year for LH and MB.

Ronnie at 2:30 :)

I couldn't agree more with Ronnie. His example of playing with bigger snooker table pockets than everyone else sums up why F1, exciting a sport as it is, is simply not a level playing field.
Imagine if all 20 cars were exactly as fast as each other, no engine or body advantages. Who would win? There's plenty of potential world champions on the grid whose talent is handicapped by the tools they're given.

Russell might replace him next year but I wouldn't say it was likely. Bottas has a contract but Mercedes could try to buy him out. I think they initially wanted Russell for 2021 but Williams wouldn't let him go under the old ownership.
I hope they do buy him out and get rid of Bottas. Also I don't think Lewis has said much about George Russell because he doesn't want to draw the attention and glory away from himself. I feel that Lewis is very ego driven, much as people like to say he's modest.
