Hi all,

I will soon be moving to a rented flat were i wont be able to use cables from my router/NAS to gaming/streaming PC. So I've been trying to get up to speed with AC. I've seen routers with AC1900 and above, however there don't seem to be any USB adapters above AC1200. Therefore is it pointless getting a router quicker than this?

IS it a case of an AC1600 router has a 1300 Mbit/s throughput on 5GHz channel. Therefore if two devices are connected that limits each device to a max of 650Mbit/s? Obviously real world isn't going to be these exact figures. SO going for a quicker router is future proofing for when there are more devices in the house which can use AC?

Any reason why you can't use cables?

I'm renting now and have a cable going from my living room to my games room, my last place was also rented and has cables, no issues at all. As long as its neat around skirting boards and doors it should be fine, when its time to move out you just take the holders out (ones with mini nails) and off you go, no-one will notice :)

Split devices between the 5ghz and 2.4ghz bands. Full speed to each device. 1300mbit to one, 600mbit to the other. AC is 5ghz only I believe.
