AC97 drivers on Vista (Snap Crackle and Pop?!)

I've just got Vista installed yesterday morning - had my keys from ages ago, found another download site, and everything worked fine.

I've one big problem, its the AC97 drivers that realtek have released - at least i think it is... Whenever the system has to work particularly hard at rendering the OS, the sound output crackles a lot and skips when playing music through WMP11. Another problem is they disable access to the default ability to sounds and audio devices.

Other problems include rendering of pages with flash parts to them, when the mouse moves they flicker madly. Now, i think this is the ATI drivers.

So, anyone having similar problems? Anyone got any ideas to solve them?

Note, my GPU is an X1800XT and i'm using on board AC97 sound.

Im having the video issues.

Im loving the new vista beta i have been sent, through work i am testing current 5472 release.

Slight sound issues on my hp laptop. Graphic glitches with the built in ati chipset and video drivers. But then new build is much better than the beta 2 release.

On my main pc at home, i am having really annoying issues with glitches with ati drivers on my x1900xt. No sound issues, as im using an audigy 2.

So if anyone finds a solution let me know.
 
What glitches are you feeling with your graphics card?
I also find the OS slower in general than XP, but that's to be expected. Also, with graphics cards having to work all the time, has anyone noticed FPS lag with the mouse... It takes the **** sometimes. I love the functionality, but its got a long way to go.

what build do you have squarehead?

if its the old beta 2 i would ditch it.

Wait for rc1 if your not a msdn subscriber, i have access to 5472 which is excellent.

As for graphics glitches, it looks like my graphics cards is over heating, getting a lot of tearing, triangles all over the place and such.

but this is only on some websites and if i try to play world of warcraft full screen, when wow is in a window its fine.

Plus the start button has just vanished a couple of times lol. the bar will be there, but the button will go walkies.

Plus ultramon doesnt work with vista :( lol

but this build is much faster, and far far far more stable. love it apart from the above.
 
yeah, i hope i get offered the RC1 because as i said, i only installed Beta 2 yesterday. Though i signed up on first release, my download was corrupted and i could never be bothered to do it again till 2 days ago. I hear its only people who activated and contributed to Beta before it closed am i correct?
 
you should be ok fella,

i get mine through work anyways, so even if i dont get in via the fact i got in on the original beta 2 release i will get on rc1

company i work for is a gold ms partner ;) probably means jack but sounds good lol
