Hi

Can anyone at ocuk tell me if you will be getting the Turbo Module which is an addon for the accelero s1 vga cooler.

I dont even know if theyre out yet? i cant find it anywhere :/

Thanks

hi raikiri, i was thinking about that as i have a 120mm fan & cable ties hmmm

im going to give it a try tonight - as long as i can get it securely attached and it doesnt vibrate..

Cable ties + 120mm fan = win ;)

only one? its 215mm wide, so you could fit 2 with a slight overlap.....

i'm debating whether to use my two 800RPM Sflex, or my 1200RPM Noctua with a spare Sharkoon SE 2000 (on the fan controler of course!)

i just installed a 120mm 800rpm silent fan and its worked a treat :)

at first with the accelero S1 the gpu temps werent that bad 45c idle 60C load but my case temps went up a lot - cpu went up 5C and the VRM on the x1950 pro didnt like the heat in there. I got the dreaded blank screen then reboot during gaming. ( i like things silent so my exhaust fan is on very low)

with the 120 fan on all my temps are back down-GPU now Idles 34C Full load 45C . CPU is now lower than before and the VRM seems a lot happier- no blanks screens yet :)

S1 Owns ALL in the recen MadShrimps review:
http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&number=1&artpage=2663&articID=593

pasive performance with good case airflow beats the VF900 @ low, turbo module @ low drops the temps a further 5C beating the VF900 @ high by 4.5C ( )

and the final test, with a 2900RPM fan droped the load to 41.5C, thats from 75C on stock cooling, and 7.5C better than the VF900.

yep its amazing at drawing the heat off the gpu and radiating it out. But like you say to have it passive you need good air flow.

I only have one 120mm 800rpm exhaust- not enough to suck the hot air generated out my case. Adding that 120mm silent fan to the s1 has amazing results.

i think you would need a very fast (noisy) single exhaust or 2-3 silent 120mm fans to keep your case cool if your going for passive. Still an amzing heatsink

in the main chamber of my comp, i have 4 2000rpm Sharkoon SEs on my fan controler (at the moment configed as 3 in 1 out for positive presure). If i reconfig the "over the card slots" fan as an exhaust and mod the X1900XTX i should get some pretty impressive temps.

need some money to spend first though :(

hi simonnance-

i think 4 fans will do the job well no matter how they are configured- but just fyi the accelero is designed for negative pressure so it sucks air in through the bottom of the case over the heatsink.

this pic gives you a good idea of the negative pressure that cools the s1 http://www.xtremecomputing.co.uk/images/review/ArticCoolingAcceleroS1/image026.jpg mine was nowhere near that but with the fan installed i can get a receipt to stick firm against the case

read this page of the review http://www.xtremecomputing.co.uk/review.php?id=357&page=5

majority of fans are set to exhaust if thats what you mean. the negative pressure causes the receipt to stick to the bottom of the case-

Things worth considering in this review are the fact that I have four 120mm case fans at the top of my case blowing air out and only one 120mm intake fan (all set at 7v during this test). This creates a lot of negative pressure inside the case which means that a considerable amount of air is drawn in through the back, creating an ideal air flow across the S1. In other peoples cases with only one or two exhaust fans there will not be as much air flow through the S1 and so will probably not give as spectacular results.

OK, got one of these ordered, ETA Wenesday

planning to strap a Silent Eagle 2000 and a Noctua 1200 to it, the former on a fan controler of course!

at the moment its idling at about 42, load at 64 odd (X1900XTX @ stock with Accelero X2 that it came with). Looking forward to seeing how high i can clock with a decent cooler on!

Bring on the fun!

I have just attached mine this morning onto my x1900xt and took off the stock cooler.

I am now getting temps of 44 Degrees idle and 58 Degrees on full load.

Not bad really. That will get even lower when the turbo module becomes available (Or attaching your own fans like you say Andy)
