Acceptable wait time for a Chinese takeaway

Hi GD

My new local takeaway always seemed to take longer than usual but took a whopping 30mins to prepare my takeaway last week. I decided to boycott them and use another place 10 mins further away, but this other place doesn't do beancurd dishes (I know, but we have a veggie in the family) so I ended up going back to the place I vowed never to return to. 21 long minutes later I had the food.

I thought a thing about Chinese cuisine is that it's cooked very quickly. How long is acceptable?

I'd say about 10mins, 15 tops is about right. After 10 minutes checking emails and browsing the forum on my phone the wait becomes tedious.

Is it just me?

Is that 30 mins including delivery time?

The place we order from is usually 45+ mins, but thats because they are by far the best in the local area. Bear in mind it's not just your meal they're cooking (unless you want to order from the place no-one else does ;))

Is that delivered to your home? Or waiting in the shop for it? If it’s delivery then 30 mins is fine and average waiting time but if your left standing in the shop for 30 mins then yes that’s quite a long wait

No delivery, as per thread title it's a takeaway. Last week I was becoming impatient and checked my receipt for the time and it showed I'd paid 30 minutes prior.

Yeah it's just you. They have to cook it you know?

This, If you want a micro-meal get one from the supermarket.

If they are sitting there twiddling their thumbs waiting for somebody to order then yes they will be able to respond quickly. If there is a queue then yes, you will end up at the back of it.

Any Indian/Chinese that could deliver the goods within 10 minutes (or even 30) would worry me, it would mean that the food is just sitting there festering in the pot until somebody comes along to buy it...

I'd say 30 mins is about the max then, but it does depend how busy they are of course.

I say that based on the fact I could cook most meals at home in that time, even without the ingredients prepared, which you'd expect in a restaurant/takeaway (obviously not things like roasts, Bolognese etc which need to be slow cooked)

30 mins for delivery is absolutely fine

if you were going into the shop and ordering a takeaway in person then it is rather a long time in general, they'd either be very busy or a bit incompetent... should only be about 10-15 mins in person as it generally is pretty quick to cook... at least if you're just going for the standard Chicken, Prawns etc.. which just gets fried quickly at a high temperature

if your order is more complicated or perhaps involves things like crab etc.. then you should expect longer waiting times

Lol this threads a joke isnt it?

What if your not the only person whos ordered? Do you not think that they would wait for a few orders to come in/be prepaires and sent out on delivery at the same time.

You arent the most important customer to them. Your just another punter that they dont really care about

Edit. If its a collection then should be complaining
