Access denied!

I can't seem to edit my registry in regedit because I keep getting told I don't have access etc despite only having one user on my PC.
I can't give myself full security access for regedit.exe because access is denied...
I also can't delete an old program files and windows folder on my secondary hard drive, trying to give myself full access also gives me an access denied error.

What do I do to regain full access?

PS - I encountered this issue as I have to play around with the mounted drives registry so I can run crysis.

Doesn't help. And yes I am an administrator.
I can't give myself full access in security settings because I get access denied. This is the main issue.
 
Yeah that's what I meant. Access denied mate :/


I'll double check I'm doing everything in the right order...

edit: right I think I've got ownership

I've taken ownership, given myself full security control, run regedit as an admin.
But I'm still getting access denied to the MountedDevices registry in HKey Local/System

What the actual ****?

Anti virus or anti malware program blocking you? Could also be a local policy in gpedit.msc stopping you although you'd have had to set that up!
 
Ok I can get access to the registry but I had to manually take control of the key by making myself owner (there was no previous owner)
I still can't delete this old program files folder on my old hard drive even though I have ownership.
But at least I have control of my PC!
 
Try using the hidden admin account? Might let you edit things. Was just an idea ^^ might not actualy work.

Run CMD as admin (so it runs as system)

net user administrator /enable:yes

log out and admin should be on your log in screen.
to dissable it

net user administrator /active:no
