Access help - multi user?

Never ever used access before but a shared Excel worksheet wont work so I think Access is the only option I have.

Basically I want to enter values into access from multi users that can be pulled into a report by date, user or batch (they are put in in batches of 25)

Is this possible? Ive set up a basic table and form in access and set up a couple of users but cant see how to log in as different users? Is there a setting somewhere that needs to be ticked to allow multi user?

I don't think you can log in as such, only set passwords to control who can log in. You'd need to get them to enter their initials or something each time they completed a record, and rely on them I think to complete the "initial" field.

There probably is some clever way involving VBA if you wanted to "tart it up" a bit, but I personally don't know it.

Not an Access guru myself but I remember work the programmers creating users and groups and then securing the database as an mde file. There was also something about disabling users from opening the database with exclusive rights, a tickbox somewhere but mainly only watched the programmers do this suff.
