I'm back baby!
Thinking of taking in a show whilst staying nr Heathrow at some point in the near future. Wondering what the best way of getting back out from Central London late at night is.

I'll have my car but would prefer to leave it at the hotel if at all possible, so unfortunately that leaves public transport or a taxi - quotes range between £50 and £75 for a taxi which seems a bit much but it will be quite late on after a show so that may have a bearing on the quote.

I can find info on costs for the tube/buses and so on, but no real hardened times for them? I was contemplating getting back to Heathrow on the tube and then getting the hotel hopper bus, or just a taxi from there to the hotel. Can I find no times because they run 24x7 perhaps?

Anyone got any better ideas or more info on my thoughts?

TFL site should give you last train times. Piccadilly line for Heathrow.

24 hour weekend tube is supposed to start in July

You should be able to find the tube timetable, google "first and last tube" and look up the Piccadilly line (I'd link but I'm on phone). That said I used to live on that line and the last tube from Piccadilly or Leicester Square is usually around midnight, later on Friday or Saturday. Alternatively look at First Great Westerns timetable from Paddington,l. They have plenty of trains from there (mind you're not looking at the Heathrow Express) so you should be able to find the latest. Probably way cheaper to get a cab to Paddington then a train to Heathrow.

Heathrow Connect runs between Padders and Heathrow and is far cheaper than Heathrow Express.

Piccadilly Line takes forever to get to/from Heathrow and is crammed full of tourists with luggage at all hours.

Remember that the Bakerloo Line isn't stopping at Paddington right now, but it's only a 5 minute walk from Lancaster Gate Central Line station.

Thanks guys, based on that info and looking here it seems that the last tube train that stops at Heathrow T4 running from Piccadilly Circus is at 23:09, but there is another stopping at T1,2,3 and T5 at 00:22.

I'm not so sure that I care which Heathrow terminal I get to, given that the last leg of the journey will be taken from Heathrow airport to Bath Road in a taxi.

Tell me if I'm doing something stupid :D

[edit]Heathrow Connect?

Doesn't uber have a fixed price service to Heathrow, which includes the perimeter roads?

I think I paid about 20 quid for one from Paddington to a hotel on Bath Road.

Something to check on. I have used an Uber car in Leeds but was already smashed when we decided to do it, and have no recollection of the process :D

Get a cab to Padders, take the next GWR train to Hayes and get another cab from the office near the station then.

Something to bear in mind, cheers :)
It isn't late evenings and is quite quick.

Yes, but thanks to your post I've re-installed the app and done a fare estimation. It reckons £27-£36.

For two people traveling on the train plus two cab rides I reckon it'll come out at about that anyway but with nothing like the same convenience level :)

Yeah. I think I'll end up using Uber. For one thing it'll mean I'm not clock watching during the show and we can get a drink after rather than dashing off to make sure we make it back :)

Depending where near Heathrow you're staying you can get the Oxford Tube from Hillingdon to and from Notting Hill Gate, Marble Arch or Victoria for peanuts.
It runs about every 20mins or so all night.

It's right outside my window. It stops at Hillingdon, Lewknor and Oxford.

Hillingdon isn't far from Heathrow is it? Could be a useful alternative :)
I have an UBER code you can use ;) IIRC Victoria to Heathrow is £26

All donations gratefully received :D
Citymapper is a handy app and has live times for the tube as well as giving you other alternatives to get to your destination.

Will take a look, thanks :)

About 10-15mins by cab depending on time of day, traffic round here can be a killer especially during rush hours.

If you go for uber then try my referral code, ZSFIP.

Will get us both £15 credit or something like that.
